Workshop 1: Mezze Al Sharq
Date: July 26, 4 hours, 10 am - 12 pm, break from 12:00 pm - 1 pm, 1 pm - 3 pm

Mezze al Sharq (Combinations from technique, movements, expressions) Sassy to Demure, Bold to Delicate. Sample Jim Boz style Raqs Sharqi with this workshop - an overall introduction to his style and expression.

Cost: $65

Workshop 2: Drills and Drum Solo
Date: July 27, 3 hours, 11 am - 12:30 pm, break from 12:30 pm-1:00 pm, 1:00 pm - 2:30p

Beginning with isolation techniques, we will move rapidly into combining layers for application in Drum Solo style performance piece. Combining movements into phrases, and then phrases into a choreography. A faster paced class.

Cost: $65

Pop Raqs Special Edition with very special guest Jim Boz. Special Edition Pop Raqs is a "mixed tape" show with both traditional and non traditional bellydance.

About Jim Boz

Jim Boz is an Internationally Acclaimed Award Winning Middle Eastern Dance artist based in San Diego, CA. Entertaining audiences internationally with performances both solo and with his professional dance troupe SANDSTORM, Jim is in high demand. His 2008 Tour entitled “Shut Up and Shimmy” includes 44 engagements in 10 countries.

With a decade of experience teaching Middle Eastern Dance, a featured workshop instructor for over 8 years and Competition Judge for 6, Jim has enhanced dance events internationally with his humor, passion and knowledge. Bringing years of classical and jazz music training, composition and performance, Jim Boz approaches dance with a musical sensibility that allows him to express in concise and clear ideas of movement, grace and power. As an Instructor and Mentor, he has inspired students to become instructors, studio owners and successful performers of Middle Eastern Dance & Raks Sharki.
Known for his strong presence coupled with masculine grace, Jim’s solo performances include a variety of tempos, textures and rhythms, bridging the emotional spectrum of the dance style. From the whimsical and fun party atmosphere, thru the drama of the large stage, Jim Boz is comfortable, confident and able to connect to an audience and join them in an exciting journey. From improvisation to choreographed performances, from soulful and introspective to powerful and dramatic to playful, Jim Boz draws the audience in and takes them on a journey of music, movement, form and festivity.
